So my take on the kiss/no-kiss decision was that, since we started the movie with her former boyfriend's death, it might have rubbed people the wrong way to see her kiss somebody else at the end of the movie. Even though it has been FIVE YEARS between those two events for her, it was only two hours for the audience?
Rob, it has come to my attention that Steven Spielberg, a master of the Hollywood ending, advised against the kiss — thinking it would be too cliched! Color me surprised.
French Kiss, one of all time favorites--but can't buy it anywhere. Do you know why? I so want to own it and I discuss it a bit in my memoir (Re)Making Love.
What a great idea for a newsletter - Kevin Kline in French Kiss is just too good (never fails to cheer me up) and Call My Agent MUST be watched by all (Camille over Emily any day...)

I love this whole issue! I, too, shamelessly adore Emily in Paris and cannot wait until August. And of course, all your recs are so good. I enjoyed I'm Mostly Here to Enjoy Myself, and have The Paris Novel on my TBR! How have I not seen French Kiss yet?!
