Oh you TOTALLY nailed what this cast would be reading (while also cluing me in to the Friss book, which sounds interesting so thank you!) And VERY much appreciate this Ode to Adam Brody newsletter. I'm sure this was a fun one to research!

Living for the Brody-saince, especially paired with Kristen Bell. Two of my faves.

A Seth Cohen x Veronica Mars (plus Succession, Glow, The Good Place and Joy Ride) crossover is my dream! I loved him as Dave in Gilmore Girls too.

I haven't watched this yet (on the forever growing list!), but I can't say I'm complaining about the amount of Adam Brody memes popping up on my Instagram feed these days.

And the book pairings were perfect!

My hot take: If Adam Brody weren’t in this, we’d be absolutely tearing it apart. I found it problematic, too; I don’t disagree with the critique around how Jewish women were depicted (while the blondies got to be hot, chill, and funny…) and I felt like it was a little “Jewish 101 for non-Jews”. (I am Jewish, to be clear.) I get what Foster is saying about having positive Jewish stories out there, but I don’t know… It left me feeling funny. Maisel didn’t make me feel that way, and that was a positive Jewish story! (Although I really, reallyyyy wish Rachel Brosnahan were Jewish, but I digress…)

That said, I watched it in one sitting and re-fell in love just as hard with Adam as the next girl. Seth forever.

That is an excellent take! Adam Brody saves the show. The way Jewish women are characterized does not sit well with me AT ALL. I thought it was strange and unrealistic that Joanne, a smart person, has no idea what “shalom” means.

HAHA exactly. Also I feel like it was a pretty direct ripoff of Keeping the Faith in a lot of ways… I’ll stop complaining. But I think it just goes to show how starved we are for good rom-coms with happy endings these days!
